A few months ago I took a friend of mine, Phil, along to a modular meet with me. I've been into modular synths for a couple of years, and he'd seen videos I'd posted on facebook and wanted to get some ideas for where he could maybe start out. So we went along and, well, Phil had a bit of an epiphany. Surrounded by those bizarre boxes with spaghetti cables and flashing lights and all kinds of weird and wonderful sounds streaming out of them, he was hit with a wave of inspiration.
Phil isn't just a guy who dabbled with synths - he's released music under the name Pearl' and runs Law & Auder records, famous for their expansive themed compilations such as Avantgardism, Female of the Species, and so on. It didn't take long before Phil's eyes lit up and he declared "I feel another compilation coming on!" Fast forward 6 months and a whole lot of research later, and he's just revealed the campaign to bring it to life.
Take a look at the Pledge Music site for details on the release including a list of all the artists involved including Eden Gray, Galcid + Hisashi Saito, HRTL, Scanner, Solvent, VCOADSR, and myself.

Nullptr - Optical
I have a new project out at the moment under my Nullptr alias (pronounced null pointer, not sure how obvious that is for people that didn't spend a significant chunk of their lives as a programmer! :D ). This one has a much heavier electro vibe than my previous material, hence the decision to release it under a new name, but is a reflection of both my listening habits and my continuing modular obsession over the last couple of years.
I was originally planning to release this myself on [d]-tached (in fact one of the track appeared on last year's Phase 3 label sampler) but in the end it found its home at the outstanding Detroit Underground records, which seems like a natural fit now. Thanks to kero for his help with this release, Soda for the awesome art, and to everyone giving it early support!

Bovaflux - Routes
You might remember around January I uploaded a few dozen unreleased tracks to soundcloud. Well I've now finally finished assembling these into a three part album, which you can now find at Bandcamp. I'm experimenting with the format of this one. Volume one is free/pay-what-you-want. Pay anything and you also get volume 2. For £10 or more, you get a 2 disc metal tin edition, which comes with a download code for volume 3, adding another 20+ tracks.
Stream Volume 1 below, and head over to Bandcamp to download and for detail on how to get the full set.
